Home renovations can be stressful. However, knowing exactly what services are being performed on your property can help reduce your anxiety. Below, you’ll find a comprehensive guide outlining our roofing process. Schedule a consultation via our form today to get started.

  • 1. Plan the Installation

Our roofing specialist will meet with you and inspect your existing system. During this process, we’ll identify common issues and repairs that need to be made. Then, you’ll receive a detailed proposal and estimate while we obtain any necessary permits for your project.

  • 2. Prepare the Property

Our team will cover your shrubs and flowerbeds with tarps. To help prepare your property, we recommend:

    • Moving outdoor furniture and lawn decorations out of the way
    • Cutting your grass so that its easier to spot and remove debris
    • Covering items in your attic with tarp
    • Moving vehicles into a garage or onto the street to prevent damage

  • 3. Remove Old Roofing

To start the installation process, our roofer will remove your existing shingles, old flashing, and drip edges. They will then dispose of these items using a roll-off dumpster.

  • 4. Make Repairs

Before installing your new roofing, we will first make repairs to the existing plywood to ensure security.

  • 5. Install Ice Dam Protection

If your home is located in a colder area, we recommend having ice guard membranes installed to prevent melting ice from causing moisture damage beneath your shingles.

  • 6. Add Roofing Paper

Our roofers will tack or nail asphalt roofing paper in overlapping rows on your property to create a moisture barrier. This is an important step that helps prevent water from seeping into the valleys of your roof as well as spaces around your chimney.

  • 7. Install Drip Edging

Then, we’ll install metal drip edging around the edge of your roof. This will go on both the eaves side and the gables side of your home. Drip edging helps direct rain and melting snow/ice away from the fascia, which prevents extensive water damage to your roof.

  • 8. Add Flashing

Next, we’ll install valley flashing to the roof deck. Flashing is nailed down and sealed with caulk in order to effectively direct water away from this area. Flashing provides another layer of protection for your roofing system.

  • 9. Lay Down Shingles

The next step in the process is to install your new shingles. Our contractors will start at the eaves and move up toward the roof’s peak. Shingles protect your roof from the elements while also adding a layer of curb appeal.

  • 10. Add Ridge Vent

A ridge vent is a single, lengthy vent that ensures air circulation in your attic. Our team will install a ridge vent to the roof peak. With proper circulation, your attic can avoid condensation damage and ice dams. If a ridge vent isn’t right for your home, we can find another type of vent that is.

  • 11. Cleanup

After the work is done, your roofer will use magnetic tools to find and remove nails and other metallic debris from your lawn. The old roofing will be hauled away. And you can enjoy your new roof!
